Hello [Web 2] World
Are you excited about crypto and web 3, but before learning what is happening in crypto, you still need to figure out what is crypto?
Or, are you convinced it is all a scam and have been tempted to strangle all the laser eyes in your twitter timeline, or mass block all .eth hexagon profiles?
Fear not, in both cases, this Crypto Primitives series should be of use.
When I was first learning about the crypto space, I was distracted by the multitudes of new projects emerging every day. In the end, I had to go back to the original protocols to distinguish which among the new ones are likely to have staying power. I want to take you on that journey. So, in these series we will go back to our crypto basics.
I will dissect the original protocols and why they matter. But not in a nit-picky, down-in-the-trenches, let’s-derive-a-bunch-of-equations way. I promise to keep my posts at a level where you don’t need a degree in Mathematics or Computer Science to understand what is happening [which is convenient since I too don’t have a degree in either subject].
We will cover the protocols and decentralised applications that started it all. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the original DeFi projects [that I dare not label DeFi 1.0]. And yes, I will do some editorialising, and share my personal opinions here and there.
If this seems appealing, let’s dive in together, shall we?
